Sign in to the personal ChatGPT account that should get the offer, or create one.
Open the veterans claim page
Go to chatgpt.com/veterans-claim and select Verify with ID.me.
Verify with ID.me
Sign in to or create an ID.me account, complete military verification and allow ID.me to share the result with OpenAI.
Claim the free year
Back in ChatGPT, enter your service end date if asked. When you see Eligibility confirmed, select Claim offer. Check that the promotion is shown before completing any checkout.

Frequently asked questions
I already pay for Plus on the web. Do I need to cancel first?
No. OpenAI says existing web Plus users should not cancel; the free year is applied directly after selecting Claim offer.
Can I move the offer to another account?
No. An ID.me identity links to one ChatGPT account and a claimed offer can't be transferred. Contact OpenAI Support if you verified on the wrong account.
